​Junior B to Championship Final
O’Loughlin Gaels 6-12 to 5-8 St. Martins Muckalee
The Junior B Team will compete in this years Championship County Final in a repeat of last months league final pairing when they face Graigue Ballycallan. The earned the right after accounting for St. Martins in the semi-final last Wednesday evening. The game produces eleven goals in total including a hatrick through corner forward Owen Wall. Michael Henebry got the Gaels first goal on 12 mins putting them in the lead at 1-2 to 0-1. Fearghal Brennan would add the second goal soon after and the lads were looking comfortable and the more alert to breaking ball.  IT was a good workmanlike performance that saw Owen Wall net his first of three just before the break leaving the score at half time O’Loughlin Gaels 3-4 to 0-4 St. Martins.  Tervine Wallace got in the groove early in the second half and pointed 2 from play within 3 mins while Barry Hogan converted a free within the same period. St. Martins looked to steal back the deficit however and netted a goal in the next play only for Owen Wall to see that goal with one of his own one minute later.  Scoring opportunities increased for both teams as the game drew to a close and St. Martins hit 3 goals in quick succession to put a wobble on the winners course to victory. Luke Hogan having spurned a couple of earlier opportunities made no mistake with the last score of the game hitting the net and steadying the ship t the final whistle.
A big support please for the final.  Well done to all involved in what has been a great season at this grade.

The O'Loughlin Gaels Junior A Hurlers produced their best performance of the year in Johnstown today ( Sunday July 31) when the breezed past the home Club, Fenians, in the Championship first round, which incidently also doubled up as a relegation semi final for the losing team.

With the aid of the strong wind in the first half the City taem raced into a 7 points to nil lead in the first 20 minutes. Indeed they missed quite a few scores in the opening half and could thank the accurate Sean Bolger(8 points) for going in at the break 10 points to 4 in front.

The Gaels took their time exiting the dressing room and straight away tore into the wind assisted oposition. Pat Byrne and Fergal Brennan(2) scored three of the first four scores of act 2 while Webster added to The Fenians' men total. Brennan again got on the end of a well worked move and fired to the net on 50 minutes making the score 1.13 to 7,  a gap that the Fenians would not close.  Final score O'Loughlin Gaels 1.15 Fenians 0.7

O'Loughlins had won no game during the League campaign and were delighted to keep their third adult team safely in this Junior A division. They look ahead now to a Northern Quarter Final clash with League Table Toppers and Championship favourites Young Irelands of Gowran next weekend

It was a blustery day in St. Johns Park and those playing with the wind took advantage when they could. Two early goals from James Stephens got them on the front foot and managed to keep that distance between the teams almost to the break. Hard work by the O’Loughlin Gaels defence ensured that the gap was never widened and the St. Johns outfit were reasonably happy going into the break five points down knowing that they had a strong wind advantage in the second period. Within five minutes on the restart that difference was nullified helped by a goal from the lively Peter Collins who was one of the sides two half time replacements. The O’Loughlins lads looked the fitter side now and dominated the play to the end with Fearghal Brennan , Peter Collins and James Lenihan adding the scores to help stretch the lead. Kevin O’Brien was rewarded for his hard work with a point of his own and Robbie Driscoll made a fine contribution to the attack. Ricky Leydon dictated proceeding from the rear guard with fine performances from Brian Buckley, Ross Butler and Stephen Tyrell. It was a good days work and a well-deserved victory. Well done to all involved.

Junior A’s (Hour) Late Surge
O’Loughlin Gaels 3-8 to 2-10 Young Irelands
It was like the Junior A’s hadn’t realized summertime was in. It took them the full hour of game time to realise that the clock had moved forward on Sunday morning and the game that they were playing actually started an hour earlier.  When it did dawn on them they were trailing a rampant Young Irelands 2-9 to 0-4 in this JJ Kavanagh & Sons All County Junior A hurling league tie. That was ten minutes into the second half and O’Loughlins had it all to do if they were to win this one.  But the sudden realization that time was ticking triggered corner forward Richie Moylan to slot in 2 goals and ignite what was up to then a lacklustre performance.  A couple of changes by the team selectors brought new life into the team and the lads responded with some fine plays clawing the game back to level pegging into the final minute. One last effort and a final match winning point from substitute Kevin McGarry pleased the home crowd and even prompted a little jig on the sideline from selector Gerry Buckley. A good win and a good start to the year.

Junior B in All-Ireland Semi Final

Junior B’s were unlucky to be beaten in the All-Ireland Semi-Final on Sunday. It marked an end to a great season for them after been crowned County Champions and Leinster Champions for 2014. Well done to all the lads.
